About the Campus

Located at 300 The Fenway, the Simmons College campus sits on the borders of Boston's Fenway neighborhood and the  Longwood Medical Area. The Main College Building (MCB) houses undergraduate and graduate classrooms and administrative offices, as well as the Java City student lounge, Fens Cafeteria, conference facilities, and the Trustman Gallery. Graduate students have access to the College's centers for information technology, career education, and academic support. The recently renovated Simmons library offers laptop loans, sophisticated online library services, and an "Ask Now" after-hours online reference service. Graduate students may use the Holmes Sports Center on the nearby residence campus. On-campus housing also is available.

SHS Facilities

SHS classes are held in the MCB and the Park Science Center adjacent to Beatley Library and Lefavour Hall, the College's main library facilities. SHS facilities include on-site nursing, physical therapy, and nutrition labs.

The Nursing Lab
The nursing skills laboratory has four patient units with wall-mounted blood pressure, oxygen, and suction equipment. Two additional units are designed to simulate an ambulatory office with examining tables and wall-mounted otoscopes and ophthalmoscopes. A media-accessible classroom is part of the lab where student desks are arranged in an open-space format for teaching and access to the lab space. Equipment includes practice mannequins, IV-monitoring equipment, pulse oximeter, suction, medication, carts, scale, stretcher, wheelchair, crutches, a variety of physical assessment tools, and other medical equipment and supplies.

Physical Therapy Labs
The physical therapy labs are equipped with treatment tables for 50 students working in pairs and separate locker rooms for men and women. All equipment meets OSHA requirements. Simmons also has a human cadaver lab at the Harvard Medical School.

Nutrition Lab
The nutrition lab includes modern, mini-kitchen labs for student teams to sensory test new food products. Each mini-kitchen is fully equipped for innovative study of functional foods and nutraceuticals.
