The Longwood Medical Area

Located in the heart of Boston, the Longwood Medical Area features 21 medical and academic institutions. These include internationally-renowned institutions such as Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children's Hospital Boston, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Joslin Diabetes Center, and the Center for Blood Research. Four of the nation's top five recipients of National Institute of Health (NIH) research funding are Longwood institutions. Longwood also is home to Harvard's medical, dental, and public health schools.
