Admitted Student Profile

Applicants to all SHS programs possess various academic and experiential backgrounds. All candidates have a desire to be involved in the health care profession by helping others recover from illness or injury and becoming leaders in the management of health care. The demographic information summarized below demonstrates the diversity of the accepted applicant pool.

Each SHS department expects that students achieve the following minimum GRE scores: 500 in the verbal and quantitative sections and 4.0 in the analytical section. The required TOEFL score* for applicants whose first language is not English is: 570 paper based score, or 230 computer based score, or 88 internet score. Additionally, the expectation is that students have earned a 3.0 G.P.A. in both prerequisite courses and overall coursework. The data reported here are mathematical averages.

Many factors are considered in the admission process: paid/volunteer experiences, recommendations, career goals, and academic performance. The information below reflects the profile of admitted students for September 2008. Although the DE and DPT programs begin in mid-summer, the data for those programs is inluded here as well.
