» Health Care Administration

The Health Care Administration program seeks men and women with diverse health care experience and interests. Applicants must offer assurance of capacity for graduate work, as well as professional aptitude and substantial health care experience or current health care employment. In addition, you will need Internet access and familiarity with standard software packages for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Applicants for the master's program should have an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or post-secondary institution abroad which is recognized by the country's Ministry of Education . Applicants should have a B average or better in the major field of study and a basic knowledge of statistics (see prerequisites for HCA). C.A.G.S. applicants must possess a graduate degree from an accredited U.S. institution or an overseas post-secondary institution recognized by the country's Ministry of Education.. The HCA program also offers an enrollment option for non-degree students.

Applying

Applicants are responsible for submitting complete application packets by the application deadlines. Applicants should download and complete the HCA application and submit it along with required materials to the SHS Office of Admission of the School for Health Studies. Each application packet must include the application, a non-refundable application fee, an application check-off sheet, essays, resume, and certificate of Finances Form(for non-U.S. citizens), SHS recommendation forms which must be completed and signed by the recommender;enclosed in signed/sealed envelopes. When receiving these recommendations, do not open the sealed envelopes but include them in your admission packet. Additionally, official academic transcripts in sealed/signed envelopes are required from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended whether or not a degree was earned and regardless of when courses were taken, or if they are not specific to the progrm for whch you are applying,or appear on another transcript as study abroad or transfer credit. Student photocopies of copies "Issued to Student" are not acceptable. When you receive the transcript(s),do not open the sealed envelope as this will render the transcript(s) unofficial;include it/them in your admission packet. Official test score reports(GMAT,GRE, and TOEFL) must be sent directly to the SHS Office of Admission by the Educational Testing Service(ETS). The SHS code is 3761.

Non-Degree Students (U.S. citizens only)
HCA applicants for the master's program who have not taken the GMAT or GRE may enroll as non-degree students in HCA 500 Health Care Accounting and HCA 501 Self and Small Group Leadership. Students who attain a B+ grade or better in both courses may apply for admission to the HCA program with a waiver of the GRE/GMAT requirement. Although course performance is considered a part of the application, it does not guarantee acceptance. Please consult the HCA program director prior to enrollment if you are interested in the non-degree student option.Completing these courses waives the GMAT or GRE but not the TOEFL. HCA 500 and HCA 501 are offered in fall (September)and spring (January)semesters

Non-degree students are not required to submit an application to the SHS Office of Admission until they are midway through the two required courses. However, you must apply by the specified deadline and be accepted in order to continue enrollment.
