The Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) All materials must be received (not postmark date) by the June 1 deadline date for entry to the September semester and November 1 for entry to the January semester.

Certain computer software and internet skills are required .

While GRE's are not required, TOEFL (Test of English as a Second Language) taken within the past two years is required of all candidates whose first language is not English. This requirement is based on native language, not citizenship. No other English proficiency exam will be accepted. The TOEFL is waived for applicants who have graduated at the bachelor's or master's level from a regionally accredited U.S. post secondary institution or a higher education institution abroad that is recognized by the Ministry of education in the host country in English-speaking countries only. Copies of student score reports are not considered official. Simmons institutional code for TOEFL is 3761. A minimum score of 570 (paper based), 230 (computer based), or 88 (internet based) is required.

Admission is based on several factors, including professional experience, previous academic performance (a 3.0 G.P.A. in graduate study is required), letter of intent, and recommendations. When applications are complete, candidates will be notified via email that all materials have been received and the file will be reviewed by the Admission Committee.

Decision letters will be sent after the application deadline date. Accepted students must submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit by the designated date to ensure a place in the class. Admission is for a specific semester and is not open-ended. If an accepted student cannot begin the program for the intended semester, it is imperative that the student request in writing to the Assistant Dean/Director of Admission of the School of Health Sciences a deferral to start the program in the next applicable semester. Students must indicate what they will do in the interim. Deferrals are only granted for one year. A non-refundable enrollment deposit is required to hold a place in the next class if a deferral is granted. This letter of request and deposit are due on the designated date stated in the acceptance letter for the intended semester of entry.
