» Professional D.P.T. ProgramThe prerequisite courses can be taken at any accredited college or university. If you choose to complete prerequisite courses at Simmons, you may apply and register through the Dix Scholar's Program (undergraduate adult continuing education department) as a non-degree student. For more information on the Simmons courses that fulfill these prerequisites, click on the course number. You must complete the Dix Program's non-degree student application, which is available in the Dix office,in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. In general, it takes one to two weeks to process applications. If you have any questions regarding this process, the Dix Office can be reached at 617-521-2051, or at dix@simmons.edu. IMPORTANT : All prerequisites must have been completed within the 10 years prior to the application deadline;most require labs. Anatomy and physiology must be human not animal. For students entering with a baccalaureate degree, the preceding courses are required prior to matriculation; only two courses may be outstanding at the time of application. Students entering Simmons as freshmen must take prerequisites at Simmons listed in the undergraduate physical therapy page. *Combined courses in anatomy and physiology (A/P) are acceptable; however, two semesters are required. A 3.0 grade point average in the science prerequisite courses is required. Generally, only two of the prerequisite courses can be outstanding by the application deadline. If admitted, the student must submit an official transcript for the missing courses as soon as possible and before the end of June. If you are taking courses or graduating in May, your transcripts will probably not arrive here until July. To expedite your enrollment, please send a copy of your grade reports or a statement from each professor indicating the grade earned on letterhead stationery. We will still need your final, official transcript to finalize the admissions process. Interviews: Selected applicants will be invited by the Physical Therapy faculty Admission Committee for interviews. The Physical Therapy department will contact individuals to schedule such interviews on campus.
