General admission requirements for the D.P.T. Bridge Program are:

The D.P.T Bridge Program is designed for practicing U.S. licensed physical therapists. Physical therapists licensed by other countries and working outside the U.S. are not eligible for this program.

  • Completion and evidence (via official transcript from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution in the U.S.) of a statistics course taken within the past 5 years. CLEP, IB, and AP scores and pass/fail courses are not acceptable; students may enroll in a SHS online statistics course called Webstat
  • a certificate, baccalaureate or master's degree in physical therapy from an accredited U.S. program, or a substantially equivalent degree from a foreign institution;
  • current U.S. physical therapist licensure;
  • documented employment in a physical therapy setting (clinical or academic) within the last three years;
  • access to and ability to use a personal computer, including an Internet browser, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software;
  • all official academic transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate courses (whether or not a degree was earned);
  • official TOEFL from the Educational Testing Services (ETS) for all applicants whose first language is not English. Scores within the past two consecutive years are required; copies of student score reports are not acceptable;
  • If born outside the U.S. and holding U.S. citizenship, a copy of a U.S. passport for verification;
  • recommendations, verification of employment, job description, and notarized copy of U.S. license.

Candidates may request to waive one or more of the required courses by completing the Advanced Standing application. Based on the Admission Committee's evaluation, candidates may waive required courses (not credit) towards degree completion. The required courses are determined on an individual basis, with a minimum of 12 Simmons credits required for all students. Advanced standing credit cannot be determined in advance of formal application to the program.

  • fall (September)
    application deadline is June 1.*

  • spring (January)
    application deadline is Nov. 1.*

  • summer (May)
    application deadline is Mar. 1.*

* Admission deadlines are the dates by which applications must be received, not postmarked.
