» Admission Requirements

The School of Health Sciences seeks men and women who have had experience as health care or counseling professionals (nursing, social work, psychology, physical therapy, nutrition). The curriculum is designed for those who work with individuals or families who may be dealing with clinical genetic issues.

Applicants to the Certificate in Clinical Genetics program should have an undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or university abroad which is recognized by the Ministry of Education in the home country. The certificate requires professional work experience in the health care profession or related field. Additionally, certain computer software and internet sills are required (see the list on the Application for Admission.)

While GRE's are not required, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) taken within the past two years is required of all applicants whose first language is not English. A minimum score of 550 in the paper-based exam, 230 in the computer-based exam or 88 in the internet-based exam is required.

Due to U.S. immigration policies, international students requiring a student visa to study in the U.S. must be enrolled full time. This certificate program is part-time and thus not open to international students in the U.S.

Please download our application, which includes information about required materials and a checklist to assist you in the application process.
