» Prerequisites

You can take the prerequisite courses at Simmons or at another accredited college or university. There are two options for completing prerequisites:

  • take classes at Simmons through the Dorothea Lynde Dix Scholars program

  • complete courses elsewhere and then apply (call the Nutrition program directly at 617-521-2711 to determine if a specific class will fulfill our requirement);

Please note: In order to apply to our Master's in Nutrition and Health Promotion program, ALL prerequisite courses must be completed or in progress and near completion at the time of application. We cannot accept an application if prerequisite courses are incomplete.

An overall GPA of 3.0 (B) or better is required in the prerequisite courses. Science courses must include a lab with the exception of Biochemistry. All prerequisite courses must have been completed within the past 10 consecutive years. Click on a course title above to see a description of the Simmons course equivalent.

These prerequisites are for consideration for the Certificate in Sports Nutrition program only and not for the M.S. or Dietetic Internship programs. We do not accept transfer credit from other academic institutions towards the Certificate in Sports Nutrition program.
