Goodgold Gets "Backing" From Physical Therapy Industry

In recent months, Associate Professor of Graduate Physical Therapy Shelley Goodgold has received national acclaim for her research on backpack use by children. Last fall, she received the 2002 Massachusetts Chapter, American Physical Therapy Association Research Award in recognition of her excellence in research. In February, she was recognized at the Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association in Tampa, FL, where she received the Section on Pediatrics American Physical Therapy Research Award. Goodgold is an editorial board member of the professional journals Pediatric Physical Therapy and Physical & Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics.

Goodgold is currently working to finalize a manuscript on pediatric physical therapist wellness, promotion beliefs and practices, including national survey results of about 250 pediatric physical therapists. She will also complete a systematic review on the effectiveness of school-based health promotion programs to increase participation in physical activity.
