Simmons Student Wins APTA Chapter Award for Excellence for Fourth Year; Faculty Honored as Well

Jenny LaFlammeFor the fourth year in a row, a Simmons physical therapy student is the recipient of a prestigious award given by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Physical therapy student Jenny LaFlamme ‘04HS recently was awarded the Ruth P. Hall Clinical Fellowship Award. Originally from Northampton, Massachusetts, Jenny received her Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health from Simmons College, majoring in Health Studies.

The APTA Massachusetts chapter presents the highly respected award annually to one physical therapy student in the state. Past award winners are Geoff Gray ‘03HS, Pay Roy ‘02HS, and Karen Juda Weber ‘01HS, all Alumni of the Simmons graduate program.

Simmons students were not the only Simmons community members honored by the APTA this year. Shelley Goodgold , associate professor, was given the award for excellence in research for her backpack study and Claudia Levenson, an adjunct faculty member for cardiopulmonary courses, won the clinical award.
