Department to Implement 24/7 Learning by CD-Rom
Professor Nancie Herbold, program director and Ruby Winslow Linn Professor of Nutrition, and Janet Washington, coordinator of the Certificate of Sports Nutrition program, were recently awarded a mini-grant to implement 24/7 learning via CD-ROM for students learning nutritional interviewing and counseling skills. Antiquated learning materials and time and financial constraints on the health care system's provision of clinical learning experience are forcing faculty to consider supplemental methods for students to observe and learn counseling skills. This pioneering effort to create CD-ROM learning aids at Simmons will involve the nutrition faculty for subject matter expertise, students for feedback in script authoring and roleplaying, the Technology Resource Center for instructional design and WebCT support, and the Media Center for video design and production. |
