» Nursing newsNursing Faculty News - 2004 Archive Susan Duty ‘99HS , assistant professor of nursing, recently received three grants to study chemical exposure. Duty received funding from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health/Harvard Education and Research Center, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and the Simmons Fund for Research. One study will look at the potential workplace exposure to phthalates (widely used industrial compounds) for manicurists, and the other research will research 1,000 mother-infant pairs in Rotterdam, Netherlands, exploring the relationship between environmental chemical exposures and reproductive and developmental growth. In recognition of her expertise in occupational and environmental health nursing, Carol Love , professor emerita of nursing, recently was elected a Fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nursing (AAOHN). The AAOHN is the primary association for the largest group of health care professionals serving the workplace. |
