Karen Harvey Teeley, M.S., R.N. , AHN-C,CNE

Ms. Teeley is the coordinator for community health in nursing program. She has practiced in the community setting for over twenty years in home care, public health and occupational health. She has taught at Emmanuel College and University of Rhode Island and is enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the University of Rhode Island and has been on the Simmons faculty since 2002.

Ms. Teeley holds an advanced certificate in holistic nursing and has presented numerous workshops on alternative healing interventions. She recently developed a new addition to the SHS curriculum: SHS 429, Holistic Health Care: Integrating Art and Science for a Caring Environment. She is also ELNEC trained (End-of-life Nursing Education Consortium) and co-teaches SHS 459 Care at the End of Life: Interdisciplinary Perspectives . Ms. Teeley employs technology to enhance the student learning experience and has developed her courses to be on-line or in a blended format. In 2006, she achieved the NLN Certification in Nursing Education. (C.N.E.) She has contributed to Blended Learning at Simmons College and serves as a faculty resource for blended learning course development. Ms. Teeley also serves on the Professional Advisory Committee for Caritas Home Care and is a founding member of the Faith/Health Connection Parish Nurses Association in southeastern Massachusetts.
