Dr. McGee joined the Simmons faculty as a full-time member in 2007. Her previous teaching experience is at Laboure College. She has many years of clinical practice in community health nursing, specializing in health care for homeless populations. Dr. McGee completed her doctoral degree at the Boston College School of Nursing. Her doctoral dissertation, "I'm Better for Having Known You" is a phenomenological investigation of the concept of self-transcendence. Dr. McGee was recently named Director of the new Simmons College Longwood Program. This program will offer a Masters of Nursing Administration to nurses from four of the Longwood hospitals. Her research interests include the nursing faculty shortage, resilience, spirituality in nursing and substance abuse recovery strategies with homeless populations. Dr. McGee is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Massachusetts Organization of Registered Nurses, and the National League for Nursing.
