Offer Joint Certificate in Clinical Genetics (CCG)

In response to a growing need for health and service providers to acquire specific training in clinical genetic concepts, a Certificate in Clinical Genetics (CCG) is being offered jointly by the School of Health Sciences at Simmons College and the Brandeis University Genetic Counseling Program and hosted by the Brandeis Rabb School.

Gerald P. Koocher, Ph.D. Elected American Psychological Association President for 2006

Psychologist Gerald P. Koocher, Ph.D., Dean and Professor of the School of Health Sciences at Simmons College in Boston and lecturer in psychology at Harvard Medical School and Boston College, has been elected president of the American Psychological Association (APA) for 2006.

As president, Dr. Koocher plans to "focus on family." His goal is to not only highlight how psychologists can contribute to the many aspects of family wellness, but also how they can strengthen the profession's family of researchers, practitioners, educators and advocates. Read More...

School of Health Sciences Faculty Members Receive Recognitions for Achievements
Dean Gerald Koocher of the School of Health Sciences honored various members of the SHS Faculty for outstanding achievements through their commitment to academic excellence and the Simmons Community.

John Lowe, Professor and Department Chair of Health Care Administration, received the 2004 Linda Roemer Award for Distinguished Service. This annual award is in recognition of service efforts in community health improvements.

Janet Rico, Assistant Professor of Nursing, was recognized by the Dean for the 2004 Outstanding Teacher Award, which was determined by current students.

Susan Duty, Assistant Professor of Nursing, received the Scholarly Excellence Award in recognition of her efforts in research.

In addition, Anne-Marie Barron, Assistant Professor of Nursing, was voted Best Teacher by the Undergraduate Senior Class.
