Location

Boston, Massachusetts, is located on the Atlantic coast, approximately 320 km (200 mi) northeast of New York City. It is the largest city in the New England region, and its citizens speak more 25 different languages. Boston is widely considered the best “college town" in the U.S. — with more than 50 colleges and universities in the Greater Boston area.

Character

Compact, charming, historic, and clean, Boston is easy to get around on foot or via public transportation. The city offers diverse neighborhoods to explore — from Beacon Hill's elegant homes, to the North End's Italian cafes, Chinatown's shops, and Jamaica Plain's Caribbean influence. Downtown Boston bustles with department stores, international boutiques, hotels, government buildings, theaters, and museums. Cambridge (Home to Harvard and MIT) lies just across the Charles River.

Weather

Boston has four seasons with distinct weather. The entire New England region is famous for its autumn, which begins in late September when the leaves on the trees turn brilliant colors. Winter is cold, with frequent snow from December through February and great skiing conditions in the mountains nearby. Spring weather warms up by April, and flowers bloom in the parks and gardens surrounding Simmons. Summertime in Boston is often hot and humid — perfect weather for the beach.
