Library
In January 2003, the Board of Trustees approved a major renovation and expansion for Simmons’s library. In 2006, the College opened a completely renovated Library building, which establishes a new entrance and identity on campus, improves the layout of the Library, provides comfortable furniture and learning spaces, as well as state-of-the-art technology resources and services. Together, these updates create a vibrant, supportive learning and research environment.
- Increase from 32,000 square feet to 45,000 square feet
- A new landmark entrance on Avenue Louis Pasteur
- 25% more seating for students, ranging from private study carrels to soft chairs and team tables
- 15 new, technology-equipped, group study rooms of varying sizes
- Designed to support the weight of compact shelving, providing the capacity to double the size of print collections
- 5 new event and meeting spaces
- New Information Commons with more computers and wireless laptops for students, as well as a student help desk
