Simmons College Trustman Gallery Presents "Hot And Cold: Abstract Prints From Center Street Studio"
BOSTON (March 9, 2007) — Simmons College presents "Hot and Cold: Abstract Prints from Center Street
Studio," from March 15 - April 20, 2007 at the Trustman Art
Gallery, fourth floor, Main College Building, 300 The Fenway.
There will be a reception at the gallery featuring the founder of Center Street Studio and master printer,
James Stroud, on Thursday, March 22, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Also in attendance will be the recently appointed
director of the Trustman Art Gallery, Barbara O'Brien. The exhibit was organized, curated and installed by
seniors in the Arts Administration program at Simmons College. The gallery is free and open to the
public.
"Hot and Cold" features abstract prints published by the Center Street Studio, of seven artists: Markus
Linnenbrink, Carrie Moyer, James Ovid Mustin III, David Ortins, James Stroud, Roger Tibbets, and Bill
Wheelock.
The installation juxtaposes "hot," or existential and expressive prints that often manipulate gesture, form,
color, and texture, with "cold" or utopian prints that focus on basic elements such as line and planes. Such
juxtaposition creates a dialogue regarding the printmaking process and the various styles and techniques that
different artists employ. The group exhibition illustrates a variety of styles and techniques that range from
spit bite etchings to graffiti prints, and features established, as well as emerging, local and international
artists.
Exhibit hours are from 10 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The gallery is wheelchair accessible. For
more information about the exhibit, contact Marcia Lomedico at 617-521-2268 or visit the
Trustman Art Gallery website.
Due to construction, parking is currently unavailable on the Simmons College campus. Please visit the
campus parking website for
parking alternatives.
