Simmons School of Management Graduate Entrepreneurship Program Chosen As One of the Nation's Best
Graduate Entrepreneurship Program Listed as Best in New England
BOSTON (September 15, 2006) — The graduate entrepreneurship program at the Simmons School of
Management in Boston has been chosen one of the 25 best programs in the nation — and number one in New
England — by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review, which surveyed more than 700 schools to arrive at their
top choices.
The Simmons entrepreneurship program ranked 18th out of the top 25 programs nationally in the graduate
program category. The ranking appears in the October issue of Entrepreneur, which will go on sale at newsstands Sept. 26. Earlier this
year the program was named one of the 10 most innovative in the country by Fortune Small Business magazine.
The Simmons School of Management offers the only MBA program in the
country specifically designed for women.
"We're proud to be recognized," said Simmons School of Management Dean Deborah Merrill-Sands. "We've built a
dynamic program with an innovative curriculum and active engagement of entrepreneurs and associated
professionals to ensure a real-world intense learning experience for students who want to launch and grow new
ventures."
The criteria used to rank the schools included the entrepreneurial emphasis of the curriculum, mentoring of
students, hands-on learning opportunities, faculty credentials, and the success of graduating students and
alumni. The Simmons program achieves these measures through its live case study methodology,
entrepreneur-in-residence program, Silverman Business Plan Competition, mentoring program, and a 225-hour
practicum that matches students with entrepreneurs around high profile projects. The school's view of
entrepreneurship encompasses traditional start-ups, high growth firms, social entrepreneurship ventures and
corporate change efforts.
The Simmons School of Management is committed to advancing women of diverse backgrounds into leadership
positions. Simmons College is a nationally recognized private university
located in the heart of Boston.
