In addition to its ranking, U.S.News also included Simmons in the "A+ Schools for B Students," the Regional Universities North category, a designation for having distinctive programs that also serve a "broad, engaged student body."
"Recognition by these organizations is external validation of the strong academic programs we provide at Simmons," said Simmons College President Helen Drinan. "These yearly rankings show our steadfast commitment to continually improving the quality of our academic programs, and our focus on transformative learning that links passion with lifelong purpose."

The 2013 rankings include data on more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools, comparing them by a set of 16 indicators of academic quality including peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.
