Simmons Hosting International Women's Day Celebration Breakfast, 'Ending Violence Against Women,' March 8

BOSTON (March 5, 2012) — Simmons College presents the 15th annual International Women's Day Celebration breakfast, "Ending Violence Against Women: Pathways to Power, Resilience, and Leadership," March 8 at Simmons College, the Main College Building, 300 The Fenway. The event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Linda K. Paresky Conference Center, and is open to the public.

Sponsored by the Simmons Institute for Leadership and Change, and the Boston-area International Women's Day Planning Committee, the event will focus on an engaging conversation on pressing issues impacting women and girls locally and globally.

Panelists will include Purnima Mane, CEO and president of Pathfinder International; Audrey Porter, assistant program director and coordinator of survivor services at My Life My Choice; and Ayanna Pressley, city councilor at-large in Boston. The discussion will be moderated by Ann Fleck-Henderson, Ph.D. Simmons College Professor of Social Work, Emerita.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
