Biology Professor Elizabeth Scott, co-director of the Center for Hygiene and Health,
was featured in media nationwide about germs in the home, including Woman's Day.com Sept. 16. She
also was featured in a Sept. 22 New
York Times article on pets passing on the disease MRSA to their owners. It made the NY
Times "most frequently emailed" list and was a featured item on its Twitter page, which has nearly 2
million followers. Additionally, the hygiene center's H1N1 study showing that college students are not
following CDC recommendations received media attention including Scott's interview on Martha Stewart Living
Radio's Morning Living program (XM Radio) Sept. 30.
The September issue of Fitness Magazine and the October issue of Working Mother magazine
both referenced Nutrition Professor Teresa Fung's study linking sugary beverages and heart
disease.
Alumna Elizabeth Jordan Carr, first U.S. test-tube baby, was quoted in an Oct. 9 Associated
