Simmons School of Management Professor Deborah Kolb was featured in a Dec. 15 Forbes.com article about haggling during the holidays and offers several strategies. She also was quoted in a Dec. 17 GlobeandMail.com article about colleagues taking credit for anothers work.

Communications Senior Lecturer Dan Connell was quoted in the New York Times and East Africa Forum Dec. 6 in the article "Situation in Somalia Seems About to Get Worse."

Assistant Professor of Education Nina Senatore was quoted in a Jan. 15 Associated Press story about how schools nationwide are planning to celebrate the historic presidential inauguration, which has run in dozens of newspapers and websites across the country.

Simmons School of Health Sciences Dean Gerry Koocher's Associated Press feature about how to tell kids about gift cutbacks ran in dozens of newspaper and websites around the country, including The Seattle Times, Aol.com, ParentingCentral.com, and TheState.com.

Simmons's Fashion with Impact ethical fashion show (Nov. 18) was mentioned, with several photos, in a Jan. 11 Boston Sunday Globe Magazine article on giving old life to new clothes.

President Helen Drinan was featured in a Q&A in the Jan. 1 Boston Herald and Women's Business News about her role as the new president.

Resident Director Katherine Lynk Wartman was mentioned in the Jan. 8 issue of Inside Higher Ed in a Q&A on social networking. Wartman is the co-author of the new book Online Social Networking on Campus: Understanding What Matters in Student Culture (Routledge).

Health Care Administration Chair John Lowe was quoted in Birmingham Business Journal Dec. 12 about the effect of the economic downturn on health care providers.

Simmons School of Management Visiting Professor Margaret Heffernan published a column Dec. 17 on HuffingtonPost.com on "What Do Business Schools Teach Now?"

Nancie Herbold, nutrition chair and the Ruby Winslow Linn Professor of Nutrition, was interviewed in a BabiesToday.com article about the side effects of watering down baby formula. BabiesToday.com is a sub-section of iParenting.com, which is part of the "Disney Online Family network."

Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science Lecturer Anita Silvey was mentioned in Dec. 27 Boston Globe "Books" column regarding the downward trend in children who read for pleasure.

Alumna Kristin Cashore and her first novel, Graceling, were featured in the Dec. 22 issue of PublishersWeekly.com.

Alumna Debra Wein published the worksite wellness article "10 Steps to A Healthier Employee Population in 2009" in the Dec. 10 Boston Globe.

The December issue of NASW Focus, published two Simmons School of Social Work -related articles:  an announcement of Professor Gary Bailey receiving the National Association of Social Workers' 2008 State Director's Award for Excellence in Social Work Leadership, and an "in memoriam" feature on Diana Waldfogel, former School of Social Work dean (1980-1990).

Mary Lahaj, Muslim chaplain, was quoted in a Jan. 11 Lawrence Eagle Tribune article about the fighting in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. Lahaj is participating in an interfaith prayer service at Merrimack College in North Andover Jan. 22.

Six nursing students published an article in the December issue of Massachusetts Report on Nursing about their experiences in a clinical rotation at the Pine Street Inn. The Report is the official publication of the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses.

Karen Janowski, adjunct professor of education, was quoted in an article in the December issue of T.H.E Journal.

Biology Professor Elizabeth Scott, co-director of the Center for Hygiene and Health in Home and Community, was quoted in The University Daily Kansan about college roommates sharing germs. The Kansan is the student newspaper of the University of Kansas.

Simmons School of Management Associate Professor Sylvia Maxfield was quoted in the Aspen Institute report A Closer Look: Finance Faculty Reflect on the Financial Crisis, as reported in a Corporate Social Responsibility News (CSR Newswire) press release Dec. 18.

Trustee Carol Waller Pope was quoted in the Jan. 6 Washington Post about the new chairman of the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Waller Pope is a member of the FLRA.
