Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science Lecturer Anita Silvey was interviewed in July on National Public Radio's Morning Edition about what books children might enjoy after the release of the last Harry Potter book. Click here to listen to the interview.

Zachary Abuza, professor of political science and international relations, was interviewed on the public radio show Here and Now August 8 to discuss Radical Islam's dramatic growth in Southeast Asia. Simmons School of Management Associate Professor Mary Shapiro was interviewed in the August 5 Boston Globe Sunday Magazine in about how job seekers should handle tough questions posed to them during job interviews. Shapiro also led an hour-long online "chat" about job interviews on Boston.com the following day.

Susan Bloom, associate professor emeritus of children's literature, was interviewed in the online edition of School Library Journal July 23 about the national children's literature conference, "Food, Glorious Food!" which was held July 26-29 at Simmons College.

Simmons School of Social Work alumnus Austin Lim was among the career changers spotlighted in an August 5 Boston Sunday Globe feature story. The article, titled "Plan B," told how Lim switched from a technology position at Harvard Extension School to the more fulfilling job of a social worker at Brookline High School.

An August 1 Boston Herald feature story on Simmons alumna Barbara Lee and her mission to empower women for roles in politics referenced her charitable giving to Simmons through the Barbara Lee Family Foundation.

Janie Ward, chair of the Africana studies department was quoted in the June/July issue of Upscale magazine about single black mothers raising sons. Ward, a single mother herself, said that black boys need to have positive male role models in their lives. Upscale is a lifestyle magazine for African Americans.

Communications Professor Dan Connell was quoted in an August 1 Chicago Tribune article about old hostilities heating up between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Simmons School of Management Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship and author Margaret Heffernan was featured in the July/August issue of More magazine. Heffernan explained why "midlife women make superior entrepreneurs," and she referenced a class she taught at Simmons. More is an award-winning magazine for women age 40 and older.

Andrea Caldwell of the class of 2008 was featured in an Aug. 2 Boston Globe sports feature about her soccer-playing family, in which she and her three siblings each have competed in college, and in some cases, professionally. The article also mentions her Simmons study-abroad trip to Nicaragua last year, when which she brought sporting goods to the local children.

Terry Buttaro, a member of the School of Health Sciences class of 1995 and a clinical assistant professor of nursing, was highlighted in a June 18 story in Advance for Nurses (New England), a regional biweekly trade publication.  Buttaro discussed her commitment to teaching nursing students.
