President
Susan Scrimshaw was profiled in the March 28 Boston
Metro, as she prepared for her inauguration
as Simmons's seventh president. Questioned on the future and benefits of an all-women's college, Scrimshaw
said Simmons is "an amazing mix of an all-female undergraduate college, and four of the five graduate schools
are co-ed."

Lyndy Johnson was featured on
WBZ-AM radio on March 23, discussing the Simmons co-sponsored
Beginning Teachers' Conference, held in Boston, March 25-27. Segments of her interview about the challenges
new teachers face aired throughout the afternoon and evening hours.
School of Management student Mandy
Osborne '07 was one of six MBA students profiled in a March 16 issue of
Boston Business Journal article titled "MBA All Stars." The article
described the students as "talented men and women who have distinguished themselves in their respective
classes at area business schools." Osborne was showcased for her focus on corporate social
responsibility.
Margaret Heffernan, a visiting professor of entrepreneurship at the
School of Management was interviewed in the March 13 issue of
BusinessWeek.com about how women entrepreneurs are altering the
course and culture of business today. Heffernan is the author of How She Does It: How Women Entrepreneurs Are
Changing the Rules of Business (Viking, 2007).
Zach Abuza, associate professor of
political science and
international relations, was quoted in a March 18 Associated
Press article about recent claims that Malaysia's Thai eateries are a sources of funding and
recruitment for Thai Muslim separatists. Abuza also spoke to government officials in New Zealand and
Australia earlier this month about the threat of Jemaah Islamiah terrorists in the region. His warning
against complacency was covered in the March 13 New Zealand City
News.
The March 18 Springfield (Mass.) Republican featured an article on
Simmons's MassBLAST library internship program. Two West Springfield
High School students are interning at the West Springfield Public Library through the program.
The Simmons School of Management's 10-day travel course to India,
titled "A Cross-Cultural Comparative Analysis of Women Leaders," was featured in a March 14 article in
The Statesman, one of India's oldest English newspapers. During the
course, School of Management Professors Vipin Gupta and
Linda
Moore led a group of students to the Jammu region, including the University of Jammu, to meet with local
women entrepreneurs.
English Professor
David Gullette published an article in the March 7
Newton (Mass.) Tab about the Newton/San Juan del Sur Sister City
Project, which includes participation from Simmons College students. Gullette is vice president of the
project, which has helped improve the township's schools and health clinics and provide filtered water to its
residents.
