Susan Sampson was featured in a WFXT-TV FOX25 news story Nov. 22
on gender disparities in retail pricing of identical items ranging from clothing to razors, to auto
insurance. Sampson also was quoted in a Dec. 11 Worcester Business
Journal article about retailers' sales on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving), which is
traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
A Q&A profile of Joyce Kulhawik, a 1974 Simmons graduate and
WBZ-TV Channel 4 arts and entertainment anchor, appeared in the Dec.
6-19 Improper Bostonian. When asked to name the highlight of her career, Kulhawik gave three - one of which
was delivering Simmons's commencement address and receiving an honorary doctorate from her alma mater.

Price were featured in a WFXT-TV FOX25 news story Nov. 16 about
the dangers for female athletes who over-exercise. Price said that Simmons makes sure its athletes are
well nourished, and he has an open-door policy where players can talk to him about any concern.
Zach Abuza, associate professor of
international
relations, was quoted in a Nov. 18 McClatchy Newspapers story
about President Bush's visit to Indonesia. Abuza, who was referred to as an "Indonesia expert" in the
article, said Bush is unpopular in that country because of the U.S. role in Iraq and that his short,
seven-hour stopover would be viewed as an insult.

Alexandra Eliot was interviewed in a Nov. 16
Associated Press story about the fashion industry's introduction of
smaller dress sizes for women. Eliot said that the industry is accommodating the needs of anorexics, who are
"ferociously competitive," and worries that they will try to fit into increasingly smaller sizes.

Chen's Global Memory Net project was featured in the
October issue of Information Today magazine. Funded by the National
Science Foundation/International Digital Library Program, the project includes 23 collections, including
UNESCO's Memory of the World, and world musical instruments.
