We are looking forward to seeing you at Family Orientation, Monday June 17 or Thursday, June 20 and look forward to partnering with you as parents and family members to help your student have a successful first year at Simmons.
Please read below for some important information.
- If you are driving, you will enter the garage off of Avenue Louis Pasteur. Please pull up to the right-hand side gate and obtain a parking ticket. Please make sure to get a parking exit voucher from Orientation staff at Check-In. Complete driving and public transportation directions are available online.
- Check-in is between 9:15 and 10:00 a.m. on Monday and Thursday morning. More information on Family Orientation can be found below. Family Orientation will end around 4:45 p.m. on Monday and Thursday.
- There is no formal family programming planned on Tuesday and Friday morning, but we welcome you to join us for the Orientation closing session from 1:00 - 2:00 on Tuesday or Friday afternoon., we will provide you with a list of suggestions for places in Boston for Tuesday or Friday mornings while your student is in Orientation sessions.

Summer Orientation
Programming is planned on day one of Summer Orientation (Monday, June 17 or Thursday, June 20, 2013); students sign their parents up for Family Orientation when they registered for Summer Orientation. You can also register by emailing orientation@simmons.edu
The schedule for the day is the following. (NB: exact sessions are subject to change)
Day One
- 9:15 - 10:00 a.m., Orientation Check-in (while your student is picking up her Orientation materials, you can pick up your Family Orientation packet).
- 10:00 - 10:15 a.m.: Family Welcome
- 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.: Choice of sessions:

- Living on Campus
- Behind the Scenes from September to December
- 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.: Family Lunch with keynote: Dean for Student Life Sarah Neill and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Leanne Doherty-Mason: "What to Expect in Your Student's First Year at Simmons"
- 1:00 - 1:200 p.m.: Choice of seesions
- Parenting a Healthy Student
- The Life of a College ATM
- Parent Panel: Advice from those who've done it
- Living on Campus
- Helping your student stay Well @ Simmons
- 2:15 - 3:15 p.m.: Simmons in a Nutshell: Resources from across the college will answer your questions about the nuts and bolts of life at Simmons for your student.
- 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.: Resource Fair and Snack Break
Day Two
- 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Explore Boston! We will provide you with a list of places to explore in Boston as well as area restaurants for lunch
- 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.: Orientation Closing Session: Join your student as we bring Orientation to a formal close
- 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.: Before you head home, join us for a Simmons tradition: tea! Members of the Simmons faculty and staff will be around to meet with you and your student before you depart.
Fall Orientation
Families are invited to join their student on the first day of Fall Orientation, Saturday, August 31, 2013.
Families are welcome to stay at Simmons until 3:00 p.m., when the students go to their Orientation Group meetings and continue on with the rest of their Orientation activities.
