Faculty Development Fund News for 2011 - 2012

INCREASED FUNDING & ADDITIONAL DEADLINES

Provost Charlena Seymour has announced an increase of available funding for the Faculty Development Fund for the current fiscal year.  As a result, there will be two additional deadlines for funding applications: February 29 and March 16, for travel to be completed prior to June 30. Priority will be given to first time applicants. Those already having received funding will be eligible to apply for support for a second conference.

As per the guidelines of the Faculty Development Fund (http://www.simmons.edu/offices/sponsored-programs/index.php), to be eligible for funding, one must be presenting a paper or poster, organizing a session or participating on a panel, and the like.  Support is available for travel to international as well as national conferences.

The Office of Sponsored Programs is dedicated to serving the Simmons College faculty in the search for funds to support research and externally sponsored activities. From the inception of an idea to the submission of a proposal, the office is prepared to offer professional assistance in all phases of the process. The Office of Sponsored Programs coordinates with the Office of Advancement to insure that all possible sources of support are explored and that Simmons presents a coordinated approach to potential sponsors.

Resources are available to match potential funding sources to ideas and to assist in the interpretation of sponsor guidelines. The Office of Sponsored Programs assists in the preparation of the project budget, review and completion of any required certifications, review of the proposal for compliance issues, and the transmittal of the proposal to the funder.

The Office of Sponsored Programs is charged with obtaining the internal approvals required for all requests for external funding that have been developed by the Office of Sponsored Programs and by Corporate and Foundation Relations.

Workshops are conducted in all phases of funding source identification and grant proposal writing.

In addition to its fund seeking activities, the office provides administrative support to the college's Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research (IRB) and the Fund for Research Committee.

The Office of Sponsored Programs is located in Room E-206, MCB. Please stop in.
