Registration Guidelines Summer 2014

Add/Drop Policy Summer 2014

Non-attendance in a class does not constitute withdrawal.

SUMMER SESSION STARTS MAY 12, 2014 


 

TO ADD A COURSE

Before May 12th 2014:

  • Add the course to your schedule on AARC.
  • If consent is needed, you don't have the prerequisites, or the course is closed, the instructor can email consent@simmons.edu  -OR-  you can complete an Add/Drop Form with the instructor's signature and return it to the Registrar's Office in C-116 or via fax at 617-521-3144.

May 12th to May 23rd 2014:

  • Complete an Add/Drop Form and obtain the course instructor's signature on the form. Undergraduates also need their advisor's signature.
  • Return the completed form to the Registrar's Office in C-116 or via fax at 617-521-3144.

May 24th to May 30th 2014:

  • Undergraduate students must request approval from the Administrative Board. Complete the following forms: (1) a Petition to the Administrative Board and (2) an Add/Drop Form, including signatures of your instructor and advisor. Return the signed forms to the Registrar's Office in C-116.
  • Graduate students must obtain instructor and program director signatures on an Add/Drop Form  -OR-  Graduate students can have the instructor email consent@simmons.edu.

 

TO DROP A COURSE

Before May 12th 2014:

  • Drop the course from your schedule on AARC.  For most courses, this is the last day for a full refund.

May 12th to May 23rd 2014:

  • Complete an Add/Drop Form and return to the Registrar's Office in C-116 or via fax at 617-521-3144. Undergraduates need their advisor's signature on the form.
  • The dropped course will not appear on your transcript.

May 24th to May 30th 2014:

  • Undergraduate students must complete an Add/Drop Form and obtain both the instructor's signature and their advisor's signature. Return the signed form to the Registrar's Office.
  • Graduate students can have the instructor email consent@simmons.edu.
  • All students receive a grade of "W" for withdrawing from the course after May 23rd (but before May 30th).

After May 30th 2014:

  • Undergraduate students must complete: (1) an Add/Drop Form and (2) a Petition to the Administrative Board, including signatures of the instructor and advisor. Return the signed forms to the Registrar's Office.
  • CAS, SHS, and GSLIS graduate students must obtain the signatures of their course instructor and program director on an Add/Drop Form  -OR-  Graduate students can have the instructor/Program Director email consent@simmons.edu.
  • All students receive a grade of "F" for withdrawing from the course after the May 30th deadline.

 

GRADING OPTIONS

Pass/Fail

By May 23rd 2014:

  • Undergraduate students must complete a Pass/Fail Form with both your Advisor's and Instructor's signatures.  Return the signed form to the Registrar's Office.

May 24th to May 30th 2014:

Formal Audit

By May 23rd 2014:

  • Undergraduate students must complete a Formal Audit Form and obtain all required signatures.  Return the signed from the Registar's Office.

May 24th to May 30th 2014:

 

This information applies only to the Summer 2014 semester. For courses that have a start date after May 12th, the Add/Drop deadlines may be adjusted.

Students in the School of Social Work should refer to their Student Handbook for registration policy specific to their program.
