Dear Colleagues:

Thank you for your interest in the position of Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching at Simmons College in Boston. As faculty chairs of the Search Committee, we would like to share with you our enthusiasm for the position, encourage you to explore this website, and welcome you to this process. You are considering a leadership position that will play a crucial role college-wide in further developing one of Simmons' key values and strengths, superb, student-centered teaching.

Simmons College is a small university with a vibrant undergraduate women's college and five strong co-educational graduate programs. The College has adopted an innovative strategic plan, with specific goals attached to Strategy 2015 that include strengthening the undergraduate college, increasing the numbers and success of our non-traditional age students and expanding our knowledge and use of online teaching potential. We embrace our core value of providing transformative learning that links passion with lifelong purpose.

Simmons is widely recognized for its commitment to the integration of liberal arts and professional learning and practice, and Simmons's location, in the heart of Boston, in a neighborhood with world-renowned cultural, educational, and medical institutions, is a powerful asset. Students and faculty actively engage with these and other Boston communities and institutions. The Director of Simmons's Center for Excellence in Teaching works closely with the Provost, faculty and staff across undergraduate and graduate programs in all five schools, and has the opportunity to engage with and develop programs that support our core values and meet the goals of the strategic plan and mission of the College.
