Train & Bus Options

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) maintains an extensive network of trains, buses, trolleys, and commuter trains. Schedules are available on http://www.mbta.com/. Information about purchasing MBTA passes from Simmons College is available on our MBTA Passes page.

The Medical Academic and Scientific Community Organization (MASCO) provides several shuttle buses between the Longwood Medical Area and nearby train stops. Schedules are available from MASCO.

MBTA Train service

Train Schedules

Green Line E Train — Jamaica Plain to Cambridge through Boston.
Simmons stop: Museum at Huntington Ave & Louis Prang.
Connections: Red, Blue, and Orange Lines, and commuter rail at North Station.

Green Line D Train — Newton to Cambridge through Boston.
Simmons stop: Fenway Station at Park Drive & Brookline Ave.
Connections: Red and Blue Lines.

Orange Line Train — Roslindale to Malden through Boston.
Simmons stop: Ruggles Station at Ruggles Street & Columbus Avenue.
Connections: Red, Blue, and Orange Lines, and commuter rail at North Station.

MBTA Commuter Rail service

Commuter Rail Schedules

Needham Line — Boston to Needham through Roslindale and West Roxbury.
Simmons stop: Ruggles Station at Ruggles Street & Columbus Avenue.

Attleboro Stoughton Line — Boston to Southeastern Massachusetts.
Simmons stop: Ruggles Station at Ruggles Street & Columbus Avenue.

Framingham/Worcester Line — Boston to Worcester
Simmons stop: Yawkey stop at 85 Brookline Avenue (several blocks past Landmark Center and near Fenway Park).

Many other commuter rail lines enter Boston through several downtown stations, particularly South Station and North Station. Connecting service with the Orange, Red, and Green Lines provides access to the Simmons College area. Details are available on http://www.mbta.com/.

#8 Bus — Harbor Point/UMass, Dorchester to Kenmore Station, Boston.
Simmons stop: Ave Louis Pasteur & The Fenway.
Connections: Red, Green, and Orange Lines and commuter rail.

#19 Bus — Fields Corner Station, Kenmore or Ruggles Station via Grove Hall & Dudley Station
Simmons stop: Ave Louis Pasteur & The Fenway.
Connections: Red, Green, and Orange Lines and commuter rail.

#39 Bus — Copley Square, Boston to Forest Hills Station, Roslindale.
Simmons stop: Huntington Ave & Louis Prang.
Connections: Green Line.

#47 Bus — Central Square, Cambridge to Broadway Station, South Boston.
Simmons stop: Avenue Louis Pasteur & The Fenway.
Connections: Orange, Green, and Red Line trains.

#60 Bus — Chestnut Hill, Newton to Kenmore Square, Boston.
Simmons stop: Brookline Ave & The Fenway.
Connections: Green Line.

#65 Bus — Brighton Center to Kenmore Square, Boston.
Simmons stop: Brookline Ave & The Fenway.
Connections: Green Line.
Operates Monday-Saturday.

CT2 Bus — Ruggles Station to Sullivan Square Station, Charlestown.
Simmons stop: Ruggles Street & Huntington Ave.
Connections: Green, Red, and Orange Line trains and commuter rail.
Note: An MBTA Subway pass is accepted as fare on the CT2.

CT3 Bus — Andrew Station, Dorchester to LMA.
Simmons stop: Avenue Louis Pasteur & Longwood Ave.
Connections: Green, Red, and Orange Line trains.
Note: An MBTA Subway pass is accepted as fare on the CT3.

MASCO shuttles — no cost with Simmons ID except for M2 shuttle

Operates from Monday through Friday.

These shuttles (except for M2 shutle) are provided to the Simmons community through support from Simmons College and members of the Longwood Medical Area.

Ruggles Express Shuttle — Ruggles Station to LMA.
Simmons stop: Avenue Louis Pasteur & Longwood Ave.
Connections: Orange Line train and commuter rail.
Bus schedule: Ruggles Express Shuttle.

JFK/UMASS Shuttle - JFK/UMass Station, Dorchester to LMA.
Simmons stop: Avenue Louis Pasteur & Longwood Ave.
Connections: Red Line train and commuter rail.
Bus schedule: JFK/UMASS Shuttle.

M2/Cambridge Shuttle — Harvard Square, Cambridge to LMA.
Simmons stop: Avenue Louis Pasteur & Longwood Ave.
Connections: Red Line.
Cost: $2.30 each ride for students and $1.00 each ride for staff and faculty; tickets must be purchased from the Parking Office in Palace Road P107.
Bus schedule: M2 Shuttle.

M6 Shuttle — Newton and Brookline, along Route 9, to LMA.
Simmons stop: Dana-Farber main entrance on Binney St.
Bus schedule: M6 Shuttle.
