Center for Academic Achievement

Fall Dates for the Math and iComps Competency Exams will be available the beginning of September 2012. 

The Center for Academic Achievement (CAA) is a vital element in ensuring that all students have a productive and rewarding educational experience. The CAA is committed to providing quality academic supports, services, and resources that enhance the learning experience of both undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, the CAA wants to encourage the highest level of scholarship and achievement possible for all students by providing resources to students who wish to challenge themselves to higher levels of excellence. The ultimate intent of the CAA is to help students become independent learners and to encourage them to take an active part in their educational and intellectual pursuits. 

Placement Examinations - The Center for Academic Achievement administers and provides test results for the Language Placement Exams, Chemistry Placement Exams, and the Math Competency and Placement Examination.

Services for Students with Disabilities - Services for students who have identified themselves as having a disability are offered by the Center for Academic Achievement. Undergraduate and graduate students are assisted with negotiating reasonable academic accommodations. 

Tutorial Services - Individual course tutors are available in many of the major concentrations including biology, chemistry, foreign languages, mathematics and physics. Study groups offer weekly reviews of course material in many introductory undergraduate courses. Tutor Specialists offer individual assistance by appointment with study skills, preparation for the Math Competency Exam, and in the high demand disciplines of biology, chemistry, physics and nursing.
