Isabel Milo

As one of our Wellness Ambassadors, Isabel keeps our community healthy.

What's your major?

I'm studying nutrition.

What's your favorite thing about your program?

The size -- it's not too big. As a result, I can easily meet with professors and bond with fellow classmates. This is extremely beneficial when it comes to getting extra help or forming a study group with peers. I think it's important to recognize faces, know names and form relationships -- it makes the whole process significantly better.

Where was your summer internship?

I interned for a New York City-based Natural Women's Health Coach. I worked as her social media intern.

What was the application process like?

The application process included a resume submission, a series of written questions to answer and a phone interview. I also had to complete a "test-run" period where I composed some tweets and "blurbs" so she could get an idea of my writing style.

What was a regular day at work like?

Since this internship was all virtual, a regular day at work entailed a lot of research and computer use. I corresponded with co-workers, shared articles, upcoming events, newly released products and other facts on all of my boss's social media platforms.

What was the most rewarding part of your internship?

The response I would receive from people. I loved getting feedback and opinions from women around the world who were using the program. It was awesome to see such an amazing community of women supporting each other and sharing ideas.

What made you become a Wellness Ambassador?

My love of health spurred my interest in the Wellness Ambassador team. I enjoy educating myself on certain topics and thought this would be a great means of sharing my ideas with others.

What's your favorite part of being a Wellness Ambassador?

I love working with the other Wellness Ambassadors and brainstorming new ideas together. Most importantly, I love sharing my passion for wellness with the Simmons community -- it's really nice to know we're helping others.

What's your top health tip?

My top health tip would have to be...Go meat free on Mondays! It's super easy and beneficial to not only your health but to the environment, animals and your wallet! I'm actually working on a Meatless Monday campaign for the month of November and will be kickstarting the event with a film viewing!

What's your dream job?

My dream job is to one day open a wellness center. Wellness is a multifaceted term, so my practice would have many sections (Registered Dietitian counseling, a fitness center, yoga/meditation...).

Fill in the blank: I love Simmons because...

It's an open and accepting community
