Ruth D. Gates Unveiling

Students Create Digital Scrapbook of Simmons Student circa 1922

On May 3, students from Candy Schwartz's LIS 462 Digital Libraries course presented the Unveiling of this semester's Digital Scrapbook. The Ruth D. Gates Digital Scrapbook contains images and background material from Ruth's scrapbook from her time at Simmons. Students worked together to scan materials, create metadata,  design and build the website.

From the scrapbook: "Originally from Dixfield, Maine, Ruth studied for a one-year certificate in the Teaching of Domestic Art at Simmons College in Boston from 1922 to 1923. Ruth’s collection spans beyond her year at Simmons and contains a wide variety of personal memorabilia. Enjoy traveling along Ruth’s journey and share a year and more enriched by school, sports, theater, worship, friendship, and food!"
