GSLIS MLIP/PhD student receives ALA Award

Karen Schneider named a "Catalyst for Change" by the American Library Association

Karen G. Schneider, university librarian at Holy Names University, Free Range Librarian blogger, and GSLIS MLIP/PhD student, is the 2014 recipient of the American Library Association (ALA) Elizabeth Futas Catalyst for Change award.

"The 2014 Elizabeth Futas Catalyst for Change Award jury chose to honor Karen G. Schneider for a career noted by risk taking, inspiring and mentoring colleagues, and making opportunities for change out of the challenges to librarianship," stated Ann Symons, committee chair, in a news release. "The Futas jury was unanimous in its choice for this award."

In addition to a citation, Schneider received $1,000, which was contributed by ALA's Elizabeth Futas Memorial Fund.
