Sad Faculty Announcement

December 09, 2014

A message from President Helen Drinan

BOSTON (December 9, 2014) — It is with great sadness that I share the death this past Friday, December 5, 2014 of Professor Tatyana Buynitsky, a member of the faculty in our Behavior Analysis program.

Professor Buynitsky, 28, was traveling with her husband, Rory Wingham, 32, in New York when their automobile went out of control and collided with a tractor- trailer. They both died, she at a hospital, he, at the scene. We are all shocked and saddened by their sudden deaths.

Tatyana Buynitsky received her undergraduate degree at Boston University, and then studied at Simmons for her master's and doctoral degrees in Behavior Analysis, becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2012. She served as a Research Assistant at Boston Children's Hospital and at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and as a Behavior Analyst for Bridgewell, Inc. At the time of her death, she was teaching at Simmons, where she was a friend, teacher, mentor and colleague to all in the Behavior Analysis program.

She and her husband Rory became engaged at Disneyworld and were married November 17, 2013. They had two beloved dogs, Soyer and Fin.

We send our sincere condolences to the Buynitsky and Wingham families and friends.
