Simmons has been selected to host the Employers for Pay Equity Consortium inspired by the White House's Equal Pay Pledge initiative.
Today Simmons College proudly stands with President Obama in celebrating the socially conscious, progressive businesses that are signing the White House Equal Pay Pledge. This pledge was launched at the first-ever United State of Women Summit in June 2014, encouraging companies from across the American economy to take action to advance equal pay. Today the more than 100 companies and organizations that have signed the pledge collectively employ millions of Americans.
Simmons College has been selected to host the Employers for Pay Equity Consortium. In this leadership role, Simmons will move the consortium forward and support the member companies as together we advance this important economic and social justice cause.
As Simmons College President Helen Drinan says, “We adhere to a deeply held value of advocating for civil rights and social justice for all people here at Simmons, and we believe in the power of working collaboratively to affect change.”
“Signing the Pay Equity Pledge is not only the right thing to do, it is a sound business decision,” President Drinan notes.
“Inequality in the workforce doesn’t just adversely affect women; it affects our families and our broader economy,” adds White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett. “As President Obama says, `When women succeed, America succeeds.’”
