What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve gotten along the way?

I was trying to decide if I should start my own consulting business after being an employee for 10 years in a big company. I went to see a career counselor who told me, “If you decide to become self employed, have multiple streams of income so when business cycles fluctuate, you will always have one line of business that thrives if another one should slow down because of market fluctuations or downturns.”

What woman do you most admire? What has she taught you?

I admire so many women it's almost impossible to say; however, I have watched Oprah and how she has inspired so many women to become their best selves and that inspires me. I have followed Lady Gaga, and her boldness and out-of-the-box performances and attire inspire me to be bolder. And lastly, I am inspired every day by my mother, who has always been my biggest cheerleader and supporter. One of her many gifts to me is her optimism – turning every challenge and upset into lemonade and teaching me to believe in and use my own grit and gifts.
