  • Michèle Cloonan (pictured left), Library and Information Science, received the Preservation Publication Award by the Society of American Archivists, May 20. This award highlights an outstanding work that contributes to the advancement of the theory and practice of preservation in archives institutions.

 

  • James Matarazzo, Library and Information Science, received the Special Libraries Association’s John Cotton Dana Award, June 13. This is the Association’s highest award for contributions to the field of Corporate Librarianship and research and publications. Matarazzo was also named to the Special Libraries Association Hall of Fame at the Annual Conference in Boston, June 14. The award recognizes distinguished service and contributions to the Special Libraries Association. Additionally, Matarazzo presented two webinars, titled “How to Lead Your Library, Part I: Finances,” April 6; and “How to Lead Your Library, Part II: Organizational Politics,” June 1. Matarazzo presented research findings titled “Leadership in Disruptive Times” at the 46th Association of Caribbean University, Research & Institutional Libraries in Port-au-prince, Haiti, June 7. He will present “Corporate Libraries: Harbinger of Change for All Libraries” at the 14th Annual Conference of the Association of Caribbean Higher Education Administrators in St. Augustine, Trinidad, July 9. Matarazzo co-wrote the following articles with Toby Pearlstein:
    • “New Management Realities” in the peer-reviewed journal Online Searcher, May 1.
    • “Corporate Libraries: Bellweather of Change for the Library World at Large” in the peer-revied Revista Biblioteca Universitaria, June 1.
  • Candy Schwartz, Library and Information Science, received the Simmons College Provost’s Award for Student Centeredness in Graduate Teaching, May 18.
