Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT): Elementary Education Licensure

Our (MAT): Elementary Education Licensure provides a master’s degree and initial teaching license for Elementary Education (grades 1-6) in Massachusetts. Our graduates have exceptional pass rates on the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) — and quickly build successful careers. 

PERFECT FOR: Career changers and educators who don’t hold a teaching license.


Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT): Dual Elementary Education and Moderate Disabilities Licensure

This unique (MAT): Dual Elementary Education and Moderate Disabilities Licensure program provides a master’s degree and initial teaching license for Elementary Education (grades 1-6) and Moderate Disabilities (grades PreK-8) in Massachusetts. Our program focuses on the principles of inclusion — that all individuals can learn and have the right to do so in a classroom within their own community and with learners their own age. 

PERFECT FOR: Career changers and educators who don’t have a teaching license.


Master of Science in Education (MSEd): Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities Licensure

The (MSEd): Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities Licensure leads to a master’s degree and initial teaching license in Massachusetts for Moderate Disabilities (grades PreK-8 or 5-12) or Severe Disabilities (all grade levels). With special education now identified as a high need teaching area in nearly every state, this degree provides the skills and certification you need to launch a meaningful career in an in-demand field.

PERFECT FOR: Career changers, educators who don't have a teaching license, and current teachers who want a new license in special education.


Moderate Disabilities Add-On License

The Moderate Disabilities Add-On License provides current teachers who hold an initial or professional teaching license in Massachusetts in another field with the option to add on a new license in Moderate Disabilities at the same grade level (grades PreK-8 or 5-12).

PERFECT FOR: Current teachers who hold a current license in a core academic area.


Master of Science in Education (MSEd): Professional Licensure

Our (MSEd): Professional Licensure provides a masters degree and fulfills a the degree and coursework requirements to advance an initial teaching license in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8), English, History, or Political Science/Philosophy to the professional level. This flexible course of study combines advanced content and pedagogy work, and also offers a pathway to add on a new license in moderate disabilities at the same grade level (grades PreK-8 or 5-12).

PERFECT FOR: Teachers without a master's degree who hold an initial teaching license in Massachusetts.


Certificate in Professional Licensure

The Certificate in Professional Licensure offers the 12 graduate credits of subject matter coursework required to advance an initial teaching license in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8), English, History, or Political Science/Philosophy to the professional level. Each individualized course sequence is tailored around your educational goals, whether to enhance existing knowledge or acquire learning in a new area.

PERFECT FOR: Teachers with a master's degree who hold an initial teaching license in Massachusetts.
