First MPP Students Complete Program

December 09, 2014

First MPP Graduates

Congratulations to our inaugural cohort of Master in Public Policy Program graduates, whose finished degrees will be conferred in May.

Three students became the first cohort to complete the Master in Public Policy Program at Simmons College.  Cynthia Eneani, Sarah Hewitt, and Mona Salem each presented original policy research at the December Capstone Presentations in Boston to complete the requirements of the program.  Their degrees will be conferred at a formal commencement ceremony on May 15, 2015.

The Master in Public Policy Prorgam was started in Fall 2012 as an interdisciplinary program between the Departments of Economics, Political Science, and Sociology as a result of those programs strengths in quantitative and qualitative policy analysis.  The MPP program draws the majority of its electives from the nationally recognized Schools of Social Work, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Management at Simmons College.

The capstone topics focused on the federal D.R.E.A.M. Act, housing and domestic violence policy in Boston, MA, and Obesity and the Factors Associated with the Helpfulness of Calorie Labels on Menus".
