Retired Professor Susan Hass has been named Professor Emerita, and Assistant Professor Charlene Spiceland (pictured, with COCIS Dean Marie desJardins) has been tenured and promoted to Associate Professor. Both titles will be official as of July 1, 2019. Spiceland has also published an article, "Tourist Trap: The New Lease Accounting Standard and Debt Covenants," in the Journal of Accounting Education

Associate Professor Susan Sampson and Professor Ed Vieira are conducting a study that examines the sustainability reports of some of the world's largest retail chain companies. The study deploys a computational method of content analysis based on network principles which extracts content meaning from the receiver perspective unlike other computational and content analysis approaches. This is the largest scale study ever conducted on this industry sector, and the first time this methodology has been used. The researchers hope to discover trends in sustainability and predictors of these patterns.
