U.S.News & World Report ranks Simmons College among top universities in the nation

Simmons College rose five spots to #11 in the 2017 U.S.News & World Report rankings of Regional Universities (North), compared with last year’s rankings. Simmons also climbed three spots from #8 to #5 in the Best Value Schools (Regional – North) category.

“Our combination of rigor, exceptional student experience, value, and range of programs is being recognized by national evaluators,” said President Helen Drinan. “We are achieving the attention our institution deserves.”

Widely considered to be the preeminent ranking service, U.S.News & World Report publishes annual rankings of thousands of colleges and universities including 643 in the regional university category. Simmons College ranked highly for small class size (71% of classes under 20), student/faculty ratio (10:1), average alumni giving rate (19%), and freshmen in the top 25% of their high school class (72%).

This year Simmons was recognized by several other national rankings organizations, including:

  • 2016 Nursing School Almanac (#25 nursing school in the U.S.; #15 among private nursing schools; #5 overall in New England)
  • 2016 SR Education Group Top Graduate Schools (#28 Social Work; #9 Nursing) 
  • 2016 College Choice Best Women’s College in the U.S. (#6)
