Kim Pacheco

Kimberly works in Admissions at Simmons. She answered a few questions!

Where are you from? Where did you go to college?

I'm from Massachusetts. I graduated with a BS in speech from Emerson College in 2005 and got my MEd in school counseling from Rivier University in 2011.

What's your favorite thing about Simmons?

The community. I love belonging to a group of students, faculty and staff that are so supportive, diverse and inclusive. It's definitely a space where students thrive and it's exciting to welcome them to campus and then see them mature and evolve during their time here.

What's your favorite part of your job?

Whether I'm on campus or on the road, I love to interact with students. I know that the college search and application processes can be overwhelming so I'm happy that I can be a source of support for students and families.

What should students look for when choosing a college?

There are so many things to look for when trying to choose a college. I think that the school's community is something every student needs to consider. Of course you want to be sure that you'll be challenged academically and prepared for your career goals but you also want to be happy on the campus where you might be living for the next 4 years. Will you fit in? Will you feel like you belong? Will you meet lifelong friends? Try to experience as much as you can on campus during your college search. Attend events, observe a class, talk to current students and spend the night in the dorms so you can take in the sights and sounds on campus. You'll know when you find the right fit.

If we visited your office, what would we see?

In my office you'll see artwork from Simmons students decorating the walls and pictures of my friends and family. You'll also see many of the thank you notes I've received from students and families that I've worked with. Who doesn't love receiving a thoughtful, handwritten note? You may also see a Simmons pennant or two.

What's your favorite thing to do in Boston?

I'm always up for a game! I'm a sports fan and luckily for me there is no shortage of pride in the local teams. I'm in good company here in Boston.

Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life?

Mindy Kaling. She's a hometown girl who is intelligent, hysterical and obsessed with pop culture so I think she's the perfect fit. And she's a boss.
