Supporting Women and Girls

Students outside on the Simmons quad

Here at Simmons, we are passionate about the advancement of women and girls.

In celebration of  the "National Day of the Girl," we're reflecting on just a few of the ways we promote education and empowerment.

Simmons Institute for Leadership and Change (SILC)

SILC works to build relationships with community organizations -- like Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, Big Sister Association of Greater Boston and Girls LEAP -- that focus on the development of women and girls from all cultural and economic backgrounds. The Institute recently held Science Club for Girls (SCFG) volunteer training, which brought together over 70 mentors, including Simmons students and volunteers who engaged in hand-on science activities for K-12th grade girls.

Leading by Example

President Helen Drinan regularly takes a stand on important issues related to women and girls in her Huffington Post blogs. President Drinan writes on topics like the incredible Mo'ne Davis, hope for women and girls in a world of violence and advice to her granddaughter.

In Boston and Around the World

We are constantly creating new initiatives to support women and girls worldwide -- and to advance opportunities for women in our local community, too.
