Celebrate Founder's Day!

The College Archives joins the rest of the Simmons College Community in reflecting on the life and legacy of John Simmons, the College's founder, born October 30, 1796.  For more information on John Simmons, please visit http://www.simmons.edu/library/archives/exhibits/368.php.  

Join the Simmons community to celebrate Founder's Day on Wednesday, October 31 at 3:30 pm in the College Center.  The speaker will be Professor Teresa Nelson, School of Management.  

Library Closed Monday, 10/29

The Simmons College Library will be closed Monday, October 29 due to potential impacts from Hurricane Sandy.
The first installment of the Simmons International Film Series, co-sponsored by the Library and the Department of Modern Languages, will be held on Tuesday October 30th at 3pm in the Student Activities Conference Room. We will be screening La Finestra di Fronte (Facing Windows), an Italian-language film, with an introduction from Nancy Bein, instructor of Italian. 

All are welcome to attend the introductory talk and film screening.

More international film screenings will be held over the coming months. See the Simmons International Film Series guide for details, including descriptions of the films and online previews.

2012 Elections Display & Resources

Wherever you are on the political spectrum, the Library's display on the Presidential Elections of 2012 has something for you. Come into the Library to peruse the display in person, or take a look at Library Displays Guide. From October 22nd - 26th Simmons College hosts Woodrow Wilson Fellow, Marjorie Margolies. She is the founding President of Women's Campaign International, a group that provides advocacy training for women throughout the world. Join us at the Library on Level 2 on Monday October 22nd from 3-4:30pm for a book discussion and reception.

The College Archives is proud to display a selection of photos by William Rittase highlighting all aspects of student life at Simmons College in the 1940s and 1950s. The exhibit is on the second floor of Beatley Library.

Gender Justice & Social Entrepreneurship

The Library is proud to host a book display in conjunction with the 1st Annual Simmons College Conference on Gender, Justice and Social Entrepreneurship. The theme for the 2012 conference is Gender and Food Justice. Come check out all the supporting material we have in the Library, and stop by the Linda K. Paresky Center on October 11th to see our mini-display and to chat with our Liaison Librarian, Linda Schuller.

LGBTQ Month

CET Faculty Seminar Display

Simmons College has launched a new Center for Excellence in Teaching to help faculty find resources for teaching, exchange ideas with colleagues, and try new teaching ideas. The Library, with gift support from the Class of 2013, is working with the Center by adding to the Library's collection of faculty resources. Banned Books Week
