Stand Against Racism

Simmons College recently hosted an all day STAND on our campus to promote anti-racism and social justice. The Stand Against Racism is a movement of the YWCA that aims to eliminate racism by raising awareness through its annual day of organized events across the country. Individuals are invited to join any of the "Stands" where hundreds of thousands of people will take a Stand Against Racism.

Support the Stand!
  • Sign the petition in the lobby of the MCB to show your support for the Stand.
  • Check out the Library display of anti-racist and social justice books and media.
  • Join the teach-in Thursday, May 3rd, at 3pm when Dr. Peggy gives the Dotson Visiting Scholar Lecture hosted by the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Display for Asian Awareness Month

The Library joins the Asian Student Association for the culmination celebration of Asian Awareness month! Check out our display for Library books and media selected by the ASA for their upcoming event.

Celebrate at ASA's Hospitality Night this Saturday, April 28th. The party starts at 6pm in the Linda K. Paresky Center.

Extended Library Hours for the End of the Semester

It's approaching end of the semester Crunch Time, and your Library is there for you!
Simmons Library is now open until MIDNIGHT 7 days a week until May 11. We're also opening early at 8am on Sundays.

Library Access Restricted to Simmons Community Members

Hearts on Fire

Jill Iscol, Ed. D, the Eileen Friars Leader in Residence, will be presenting a discussion entitled: "Hearts on Fire: Turning Your Idealism into Action," on Thursday, April 12, at 4pm in the Trustman Art Gallery.  Come to the Library to check out some selected materials about social activism and to learn more about Ms. Iscol and Thursday's event.

Chinese Calligraphy Exhibit

The Library is proud to display the work of Simmons students from CHIN 260, Professor Alister Inglis's Chinese Calligraphy course.  We have over a dozen examples of Chinese calligraphy, handwritten renderings of poetry from the Tang Dynasty (618-907), as well as books about calligraphy and the poetry and art of the Tang Dynasty.  Professor Inglis has also allowed us to display some of his work.  Come check it out!
