The Library is working to enhance our website!
We are recruiting student and faculty volunteers for usability testing at the end of May. Each participant will
receive a $5 gift card to either Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts.
The Usability Testing will take approximately a half hour and will be
scheduled during the last two weeks of May. During that time, participants
will be asked to use the Library's website to complete a series of simple
tasks. The usability software will record how each patron interacts with
the website (where they click, point their mouse, etc.).
If you're interested, please email library@simmons.edu and one
of the study coordinators will contact you to schedule a time that works for
you.
The Library of Congress has just introduced a collection of more than 10,000 rare sound recordings produced between 1901 and 1925. Created in partnership with Sony, the National Jukebox comprises the whole of Sony's pre-1925 catalog of recorded works, both musical and spoken-word, presented here free to the public. Selections include: jazz, dance music, opera, comedy, famous speeches, and poetry. There is also an interesting slideshow detailing the process of digitizing the collection.
If you want to hear the music of Al Jolson, President Taft's speech on protective tariffs, or humorous monologues of Vaudeville entertainers, the National Jukebox (http://www.loc.gov/jukebox/) has it.
In honor of National Nurses Week,
the Simmons College Archives invites the community to visit a special exhibit
currently on display in the Lobby of the Park Science Center commemorating the
