FLC Members & Guest Services

Visiting the Library

Guests, including current students, faculty, and staff that belong to Fenway Library Consortium (FLC) institutions may use the Simmons Library during all open hours. Please note that after 8:30pm, a Simmons College ID is required for entry. View current hours.

Computer Use and Printing

FLC members and other guests may use the computers in the Library as well as the wireless internet. The Technology Desk in the Information Commons can assist with logging in from a personal laptop or public computer, and are available to provide basic software support. Once logged in, guests may access the Library’s electronic resources.

Printing is available for an additional fee. Guest printing cards and instructions for use are available at the Circulation, Reference, and Technology desks.

Borrowing Materials

  • Books: 28 days with 3 renewals, unless requested by another user.
  • Audio CDs:7  days with 3 renewals, unless requested by another user.
  • Videos/DVDs, 16mm films, Museum of Fine Arts Passes, Periodicals, Course Reserves and Group Study Rooms are not available for loan or booking by FLC Members.

Library materials may be renewed by calling the Circulation Desk at 617.521.2786 or visiting the Library.

Overdue notices and bills for replacement of unreturned materials will be sent to the patron's home library.

Colleges of the Fenway Cross-Registered Students

Colleges of the Fenway students who are registered to take courses at Simmons College have the same borrowing privileges as Simmons College students. COF students must obtain a Simmons photo ID and a Simmons email username and password in order to use electronic resources, access course reserves, and check out Library materials. ID cards can be obtained by visiting the Campus Card Office in room E-008 in the Main College Building.

Research Assistance

For help with research questions, visit the Library reference desk or contact a Simmons librarian. For more in-depth assistance, reference staff may recommend an appointment with a subject specialist.

Electronic Resources

While on campus, FLC members and other guests may access the Library’s electronic resources. For remote access to electronic resources, visit your local library. In Massachusetts, the Boston Public Library (BPL) provides remote access to its databases for all residents. Learn more at http://www.bpl.org/electronic/.

Parking

Discount parking coupons for the Simmons garage are available at the Circulation Desk and in the Career Resource Library. Discounted rates are $12/day maximum and $6 for entry after 5pm or on weekends.
